China 2 - Corea del Norte 0

Goals by Deng Zhuoxiang and Gao Lin late in the first half gave China their second victory in four days as they beat North Korea in a friendly at Guiyang Olympic Sports Centre.

Gao Lin, who scored the only goal of the game to help China edge Uzbekistan 1-0 in Kunming on Sunday, maintained his fine form, setting up the first goal for Deng eight minutes before the break and adding the second just three minutes later.

China were on top throughout even though coach Gao Hongbo fielded a clutch of young players in the starting line-up, including goalkeeper Zhang Lie as well as central defenders Wang Qiang and Li Xuepeng.

The visiting side, without key striker Jong Tae-se, were defensive-minded, allowing China to have the majority of ball possession.

Deng opened the scoring in the 37th minute when he latched onto a fierce low cross from Gao Lin before slotting the ball home.

Gao Lin headed past goalkeeper Ri Myong-guk three minutes later when he met a well-timed cross by Yu Hai from the left.

Both sides made a number of substitutions in the second period but neither were able to find a way through the opposition rearguard.

The closest North Korea came to a goal was 10 minutes before the final whistle when Jon Kwang-ik's 20-yard drive hit the crossbar.

''We want to make the most of the friendlies before the World Cup qualifiers since it will be the last training for us before the important qualifiers,'' said coach Gao Hongbo.

''The two victories pave the way for our success in the upcoming qualifiers. I am really grateful to my team. We worked hard the past few days days.''
